Frequently Asked Questions
Do the listed dimensions include wheels and handles?

We publish both numbers. The case dimensions (the packing body only) are 28 x 17.5 x 12 in. The overall dimensions, which include wheels and carry handles, are 29.5 x 17.5 x 12.5 in. When airlines publish size limits they mean the overall size, so compare the overall number to your airline's limit.

How many linear inches is this bag, and will I owe oversize fees?

Linear inches are height + width + depth. This bag measures 57.5 linear inches by case dimensions and 59.5 including wheels and handles. The standard checked-bag limit on most airlines is 62 linear inches (158 cm). This bag sits within that limit. More detail in our luggage size and weight guide.

How much can I pack before hitting airline weight limits?

Most U.S. airlines cap checked bags at 50 lbs. This bag weighs 9.1 lbs empty, which leaves about 40.9 lbs of packing before standard overweight fees. A luggage scale is a good companion for long trips.

Does the expansion matter on a checked bag?

Expansion adds packing depth, which also adds to the bag's linear inches and invites heavier packing. If you are near your airline's size or weight limit, measure and weigh the bag expanded, the way it will actually fly.

How do I make a warranty claim or get repairs?

Submit a repair request through our warranty repair page for an online evaluation, with photos of the issue and your proof of purchase (or product registration). If the issue is covered, Travelpro provides replacement parts or, when a bag cannot be repaired under an active warranty, a replacement bag. Prefer in-person help? Find the nearest authorized repair center. Full coverage details are on the warranty information page.

How do I clean and care for it?

Use a 50/50 mixture of alcohol and water, apply with a soft cloth, and gently rub the affected area until the spot lifts. Let the bag air dry completely before storing. A little lemon juice in the mixture freshens the fabric. More care tips are in our customer FAQ.

What warranty does this come with?

Reviews

This is a replacement for

"This is a replacement for my old Travel Pro that served me for many years domestically and abroad."

— James C. (5/5)

I bought this to replace

"I bought this to replace my Maxlite 5 medium spinner that went on at least 17 tough international trips and survived until the wheels started disintegrating on my last trip. I am trying this style out as I think the two wheels would be better than spinner which aren’t so great on uneven surfaces although I love using at the airport. I spend more time with luggage on cobblestone streets or uneven pavement so chose pull style. Bold is very well made with lots of space for a 2-3+ week trip. I look forward to trying it out on my next trip to Africa in a couple months. Will write a follow up then. I like the pocket for damp clothes this piece has also. Travel pro is the best luggage."

— Cathy B. (5/5)

I do a lot of

"I do a lot of travel for both work and personal. I had a TravelPro Bold from 2016-2017 that held up well, but the wheels, or more specifically the wheel axles, finally wore out. I bought a new one last month. Overall nice upgrades, but the first time I used it, I was leaving the airport and the wheel fell off. Fixable, but a real pain to lug a 40-50lb suitcase around rather than rolling it. The axle or shaft for the wheel is a bolt with a nut on the inside. The bolt is too short and needs additional means of assuring it will not come out. Because the wheel stopped turning the wheel now has a flat spot on it and will have to be replaced. I would expect better quality and build from a high(er) end luggage manufacture."

— Robert C. (2/5)

Replacing my first Bold after 7 years of baggage handling.

"The original bag I loved it. Usually the wheels, telescopic handle, or zippers go first. Not this bag, still in good shape making over 20 trips a year, equates to 40 plus times the bag gets handled by the carriers. Still holding strong. I wanted the next size up from my 25". Also got the carryon Bold as well"

Great luggage

"Haven’t used it yet but the size is what I was looking for. I’ve had the 22” roll aboard for a few years now and it still looks good, even though I’ve had to check many times."

— Gary S. (5/5)

"Used this bag on a 12 day Alaska trip and it’s awesome! Plenty of room and extra storage pockets are great. Made very sturdy, trolley handle is strong. I checked this bag when I flew and it done very well. I’m pleased with it and will buy again."

— Cody (5/5)

Amazing

"Awesome suitcase! I’m very happy with my purchase. I work for Delta Airlines and use Travel Pro as my work bags.."
