Yes. The zippered expansion adds extra packing depth, and a fully expanded bag may not fit a strict airline sizer. If your airline enforces its sizer, board with the bag unexpanded and save the expansion for the trip home or checked segments.
The lock ships set to 0-0-0. To set your own code: turn the dials to 0-0-0, remove the zipper pullers from the lock, press the reset button on the side of the lock with a pen until it clicks, choose your combination, then press or slide the release button. Combine mild soap and water, apply with a soft cloth, gently rub until clean, rinse well, and let the bag air dry completely before storing. Surface scuffs on hardside shells are cosmetic and do not affect performance; store the bag in its provided fabric cover when not in use. More care tips are in our customer FAQ.

"Well constructed. The wheels move smoothly and appear rugged (the reason I purchased this). The two compartments have covers, so be sure your packing or packing cubes can fit within the halves. The covers themselves are ventilated and contain pockets, making the space a place for small, thin items. My only concern is the durability of the shell. It feels to me to be rugged for carry-on use, but unsure how well it will survive a trip in the belly. However, it's a trade off - the shell keeps the weight nearly zero. I will be using this on a long trip, where light weight, easy maneuverability, and durable wheels are essential. Based upon my prior travels with other suitcases, I am certain this will withstand far better than those."

"Well-made with super smooth wheels and actually holds more than you might think. Purchased for international overhead bin to avoid checking a bag, but haven’t made that trip yet. Used on regional travel already, and purposely over-packed with six outfits for a weekend trip, PJs/robe, extra pair of shoes, and toiletries, which all fit. I already had compression bags that helped squeeze it all in. It looks too small for all that when you open it, but it fit without using the expansion feature. It is summer, so no jackets or sweaters, which would have needed the expansion. I got it with the combination deal on the backpack, which I’m way more happy with than I thought I’d be. I didn’t intend to get that piece at first but am super happy they offered the combo deal and I did."
