Yes. The zippered expansion adds extra packing depth, and a fully expanded bag may not fit a strict airline sizer. If your airline enforces its sizer, board with the bag unexpanded and save the expansion for the trip home or checked segments.
The lock ships set to 0-0-0. To set your own code: turn the dials to 0-0-0, remove the zipper pullers from the lock, press the reset button on the side of the lock with a pen until it clicks, choose your combination, then press or slide the release button. Use a 50/50 mixture of alcohol and water, apply with a soft cloth, and gently rub the affected area until the spot lifts. Let the bag air dry completely before storing. A little lemon juice in the mixture freshens the fabric. More care tips are in our customer FAQ.

"Went with the White Sand "International" version, so a little less space than a typical carry-on but very compact and organized. I've made it work for 6-7 day trips without expansion. Soft touch handles are also nice, as well as overall look. Have already had several compliments. Only complaint is the wheels, as even though they lock in place, they tend to wobble. . My London Fog set also has directional locking wheels but does not have this issue."
"I’ve had had this bag for several months and have taken approximately six trips with it. I travel over 20 times per year and this bag is for my wife. My other Travelpro bag is the Versa-Pack spinner. On the very first trip I noticed that the handle stuck when pulling it to the fully extended position. I assumed this was just due to it being brand new, and potentially some tight tolerances with the new plastic. We then made a couple of more trips and things were OK. However, now I’ve experienced that if there is any pressure on the handle internals, then the handle jams and you can’t move it to the full extended position. I have a video showing that the bag is not overly packed just full like you would normally do to maximize your packing space and there’s no way to get the handle to fully extend. Therefore, it’s useless, especially if it has to be packed in a certain way to avoid this issue and given the price point this sells for. I reached out to Travelpro warranty, and they recommend the handle be replaced (while I pay the S&H to send it in), but I think this is a bigger design issue that people should know about."
"As soon as I saw this suitcase in white online I wanted it very badly. It is pricier than other pieces. I suppose you are paying premium for style. For me it was worth it. I have no complaints. The wheels are so smooth. The luggage feels well made, it has a good weight to it without being heavy. Fits perfectly in the overhead bin with room to spare. Love this piece. Waiting for the matching under seat bag or backpack to come back in stock. So I can use it as my personal item."

"I had high hopes for this bag based on other Travelpro products that I use. This must have been designed by someone focused on looks rather than functionality. I find the zippers to be thin and prone to bind. The fabric used to make the zippers compartments for each half of the bag significantly overhang the compartments limiting its usefulness to store larger items. The fabric itself seems rather cheap compared to the price they are charging for this bag. Comparatively, my daughter's Away bag of about the same size is much more useful, less finicky to use, and priced much better."

"The following review is for the Travelpro Travel & Leisure Compact Carry-on Spinner in Whistler Grey that I received to review under the Test Pilot Program. This is a smaller piece of luggage that is meant for shorter trips, about 3-5 days in duration. Although I prefer soft-sided luggage, I was anxious to get the product and review it knowing Travelpro design and functionality have always been excellent; and this was no exception. The product arrived in a heavy cardboard box completely wrapped in a black fabric covering with a drawstring to protect the luggage from shipping damage, which was a nice touch. First observation is that the luggage has a sophisticated look, with a textured polycarbonate hard shell, leather trim, the Travelpro comfort handle, and zinc corner accent, that also helps protect the luggage from impacts on the corners. Inside, the sewing is on-point with no stitching problems, quality fabric covering, a zippered panel on each side, and of course, the magnetic wheels that spin effortlessly and track straight when rolling (huge benefit over other spinner luggage that loves to “roam”). The Whistler Grey is sharp, classy and something that will be easier to find than the standard black or navy blue of other luggage. Positives - the details are impressive. • The size is designed to fit in any 22 x 14 x 9 sizer bin and it does. Although I have not had a problem domestically with my 21-inch spinner that is 23-inches long, there is no way you will have any trouble carrying this onboard any US aircraft. • The TSA-compliant lock is a great feature, so you don’t have to have a heavier lock hanging off your zippers. This should be a standard for all luggage these days. • The 2” expansion zipper gives you enough room for more clothes/items, and could be needed if buying things at your destination and bringing them back home, or just to pack more clothes, if in-between seasons or whatever. • The Divider Panels make this luggage. Others have small or no dividers, and Travelpro put a full zippered divider in each side. One side has two zippered pockets and a garment tie down, and the other side has a removable water-resistant pocket on the half mesh divider. The mesh on each side is superior to others I have seen in that they are a very small mesh that allows you to see what is packed, but doesn’t allow anything to get caught up/tangled. • The Magnatec wheels are awesome. No more fighting my wife’s cheaper spinner that seems to want to wander off, while mine just keeps moving true to a straight line. I like the smaller/lighter profile which makes handling it a breeze as it will pass any carriers Carry-On restrictions. • The contoured handle is substantial and I found it to be sturdy and comfortable, which is a problem I find with other bags. The contoured handle does make pulling this luggage effortless. • The YKK zippers are strong and work well. They are smooth (although somewhat resistant so they don’t open by themselves like some cheaper zippers I have had) and provide a strong hold that sometimes seems inferior on competitor bags. The divider zippers have a stylish leather zipper pull that is a nice touch. • Always with class, Travelpro includes a nice leather name tag with each bag. Opportunities – although no deal-breakers, here are some things that could be improved. • This luggage is designed to be small and take on short trips, so every inch matters. The casing for the two retractable handles are large and you lose valuable space in luggage this small. • The waterproof pouch is nice with the navy fabric exterior, but shouldn’t this be see-through in case you have to show it to TSA? • The fabric lining each side is very loose – would be good to have it Velcro or glued in so that it contours tight against the shell. There is no need to unzip it unless it is being repaired, so not sure why that is so loose. • Garment tie-down is on one side and would be nice to have on both sides. • TSA lock is 3-digits and since many people use their standard PIN, which is 4 numbers, it would be great to have a 4-digit combination. • Why no hand-grip on the bottom? I love that on my Platinum Elite and it makes grabbing your luggage that much easier. This could easily be added with the wheel height providing enough space. For a small piece of luggage, it is a great size to bring what you need and no more for a short trip. Makes handling it a breeze and it will pass any carriers Carry-On restrictions. You can see in the pictures: • The spinner opens clamshell style to two compartments with a divider with pockets, and a waterproof toiletry bag that zips in place for easy removal if needed. The plastic on the toiletry bag is thicker than cheaper items and again, has a very strong zipper. • Each compartment has a full zipped divider that makes packing easy while keeping packed items secure and in place. • One side has a garment tie-down."
