We publish both numbers. The case dimensions (the packing body only) are 28 x 17.75 x 12 in. The overall dimensions, which include wheels and carry handles, are 31 x 19 x 12 in. When airlines publish size limits they mean the overall size, so compare the overall number to your airline's limit.

How many linear inches is this bag, and will I owe oversize fees?

How do I clean and care for it?

Combine mild soap and water, apply with a soft cloth, gently rub until clean, rinse well, and let the bag air dry completely before storing. Surface scuffs on hardside shells are cosmetic and do not affect performance; store the bag in its provided fabric cover when not in use. More care tips are in our customer FAQ.

"Took the luggage across two continents and on a cruise within three weeks, and the luggage held up well. PROS: - Wheels are smooth - Handle is sturdy CONS: - Heavy, for airline standards. Almost 11 lb when empty, so you are down to 39 lb of the 50 lb allotted for most airlines. Just something to keep in mind. - Scratches very easily, which was another reason why it got knocked down a star. I had to buy a sleeve for it during the trip since I was worried that it would be scuffed beyond repair by the end of the journey - Right shell is not zippered (I knew this going in, but did not realize how inconvenient this would be when packing)"

"As a long time fan of TravelPro, the new Optima expandable large suitcase is perfect for those longer trips! This is a beautiful piece

"This is a beautiful piece of luggage. It is made well. The interior is spacious. All of my clothes will fit in this luggage. My husband already had decided that he wants to "own" this piece. He is planning on using it when we take a long cruise to Europe for our 50th anniversary. This piece is strong and can take all the abuse it gets from airlines and cruise ships. We love it and expect that it will give us many years of great service."

Flexible Hard Case Luggage

"Large spacious roller, easy to manipulate, with section dividers that keeps everything organized, and stops you from over packing large items which leads to being overweight. Although the luggage is a hard case it has flexibility to the material and a zipper expansion, which gives you more packing flexibility if needed. However, because of the the body has some flex to it when fully packed, but its the appropriate compromise to a non flexible hard case. The light blue color sticks out on the conveyor belt and was easy to spot, the wheels are color matched which helped it to stick out from the other luggage."
