Yes, for the major U.S. airlines: this bag is sizer-bin tested and fits the carry-on sizers and overhead bins on mainline aircraft of the major U.S. carriers. Like most premium carry-ons, its overall height (23 in.) is slightly above the commonly published 22 x 14 x 9 in. standard, and it still fits where it matters: the sizer and the bin.

Yes. The zippered expansion adds extra packing depth, and a fully expanded bag may not fit a strict airline sizer. If your airline enforces its sizer, board with the bag unexpanded and save the expansion for the trip home or checked segments.
The lock ships set to 0-0-0. To set your own code: turn the dials to 0-0-0, remove the zipper pullers from the lock, press the reset button on the side of the lock with a pen until it clicks, choose your combination, then press or slide the release button. Combine mild soap and water, apply with a soft cloth, gently rub until clean, rinse well, and let the bag air dry completely before storing. Surface scuffs on hardside shells are cosmetic and do not affect performance; store the bag in its provided fabric cover when not in use. More care tips are in our customer FAQ.

"Love the expandable carry on. The size is why I bought this one. I’m a 79 year old female in good health who likes to travel. However, my strength is fading, and this is my check in case. A person should not carry more than they can handle! I also take a smaller international carry on size Travelpro and an underseater Travelpro. Love the brand. Handles are always easy to use. The wheels fantastically run smooth and straight. The outside materials used are super strong. I’ve never had a problem with them. The zippers have always worked smoothly and always appear very strong and well made. The inside is just fine and works great with compression bags. Overall, this is a perfect luggage. The only problem is the built-in locks. I can’t change the combination. It works fine with the default combo, but won’t reset. The tiny reset button will not depress. Oh well, I’ll just use extra locks. I still love the luggage."

"This is the second carry on that I now own. I purchased the Maxlite® Air Compact Carry-On Hardside in 2023 and my first time using it was for a two week vacation to Hawaii. It worked perfectly for me. I am eagerly anticipating my first trip with the Optima® Expandable Carry-On as it is a bit larger and has some different features that my Maxlite® does not have. TheOptima® has the traditional zippered divider panel to keep everything in place but this one incluldes a water-resistant zone for damp items or toiletries. This carry-on also has the integrated compression panel which maximizes space and keeps contents secure. These two features are new for me and are features that I will truly find useful. The wheels move effortlessly. I have attached some photos as I am partially packed for my next trip to Hawaii in 12 days. I still have room so I need to "reorganize" a bit. I have 3 bottoms, 7 tops, underwear, toiletries, my electronics and 1 pairs of shoes. I just need to add my bathing suits and I'll be good to go. I own the Maxlite® Air medium and large suitcases and have used both sizes on my trips to Germany. I am very pleased with ALL my Travelpro purchases."
"Very sleek. Love the sturdiness of the handle - it's better than my other Maxlite air compact carryon. Note - it is slightly bigger than the Maxlite so for the very strict European airlines you will want to measure. I like the idea of the compression panel, but wish it had the option to be removable since I won't need it every time. Wish the netting on that panel was a pocket to slip paperwork in - currently it's just "netting" with no use."
